Rarely seen the Martini Henry Artillery Carbine MkIII was originally to be a conversion of Existing 2nd Classed MKIII rifles issued from stores. The Carbine was supposed to accept a Bushed Yataghan sword, except the trial model as the photograph was made using an IC1 Artillery carbine as a test piece. Adopted in 1891 the MHACIII saw little service and most were re-conversted in 1893 to provide mother arms to the Martini Enfield Artillery Carbine MkII Pattern B. Notable from its sister arm the Martini Henry Artillery carbine MkII is the frowned fixing, which is a hook type of the MkIII rifle, the shortened frowned to accepth the yataghan bayonet na d the revised cleaning rod. p>
