Weapon Overview

With the ongoing experiments of the Enfield Martini pattern A .402 rifle,In 1885 a new radical design on sword bayonet was trialled, the 18.75" fullered blade was a re-visit of the P1875 sword bayonet, except for the first time the bayonet was mounted directly underneath the barrel, with a separate hole drilled in the quillion for the rifles cleaning rod. With the cancellation of the Enfield Martini project, most Enfield Martini bayonets were converted to pattern 18887 MkIV in 1891.
