Approved in List Of Change 2713, the Cutlass bayonet was manufactured for the Royal Navy, converted from the 1861 pattern Enfield Cutlass bayonet, the alteration involved the shorteneing of the blade by 1" (25mm), the muzzle ring reducing to the dimension of the Martini Henry Rifle, and a new cross guard being fitted.
