Introduced in List of Change 3615, with the Martini Henry IC1 Artillery carbine. the 25.75" blade was desgined ti give the same reach as a conventional Martini Henry rifle with bayonet fixed. The bayonet was designed as a multi-tool to assist the gunners, a close support sword, a bayonet and also a cutting device to saw bushes and branches when gun laying.

These may have German manufacture marks and W^D proofing.
