The Royal Small Arms repair factory was on Bagot Street, Birmingham, known locally as "the Tower", a subsidary of Enfield, the factory carried out routine works, lapping barrels, re-blueing and genral repairs. In 1884, the ex National Arms and Ammunition Factory at Montgomery Street, Sparkbrook Birmingham was amalgamated in the Birmingham works. This factory also manufactured barrels, also engaged in re-rifling .402" calibre arms to .450.
